At the end of the day, Lauryn Hill was overrated.

Was she talented? Yes but overrated. There was a lot of mythological hype that surrounded her after her solo album, The Miseducation of Lauryn....

1 classic album and then little to nothing afterwards, aside from that bizarre Unplugged album/concert (tho it was a a few really good songs on here)

Wyclef was the real talent in the group. After The Fugees broke up, he went on to put out his own great and nowadays underrated album, The Carnival and a few other good albums. He wrote and produced big hits for a who's who of artists (Destiny's, Child, Carlos Santana and The Product G&B, City High, Mary J, Shakira etc)

Lauryn became more of a myth than anything with her 1 classic album. She was great in The Fugees (best mc obviously,) but as a solo act? Overrated.

She's become more of a legend for her tardiness to her concerts and her self imposed exile from music on and off again over the last almost 20 years then she has for her music. What year did The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill come out again? 98'. Yeah, exactly.

Did I say 3 songs? No. I said "A FEW good songs".

That Unplugged is not what I call a masterpiece. I remember when that shyt came on MTV and i remember thinking this shyt is weird and I won't the only 1 who thought so either. Lauryn was a mess.

Did I not say she was the best MC in the Fugees? That's obvious. As well as a really good singer. When I said she was overrated, I meant in terms of what the media built her up as.... You had nikkas saying she the 2nd coming of Nina Simone.... She was a great writer, producer, instrumentalist and all this other shyt. It's well known she had a lot of help on that Miseducation of Lauryn Hill album too.

Those songs would not have been the same without Lauryn but clearly Lauryn was not the artist we thought she was when she was in the group because once she went solo she went she made 1 big hooray of an album, wrote a few songs for other artists (Aretha Franklin - "Rose Is a Rose" and Mary's "All that I Can Say" and then disappeared. Her "run" was short.

When The Fugees went solo, what happened? Lauryn dropped 1 classic album and then a lopsided unplugged album and disappeared. Clef had a longer and stronger run of albums and made music with a who's who of artists.

I'm not even a Fugees fan outside of Blunted On Reality and The Score, but I'm just saying.

She's thrived off of ONE solo album for 20 fukking years!

Negro Shenanigans! nikkas frontin on Lauryn Hill Now?

Lauryn Hill lyrically carried The Score, Clef and Pras, she outshine those nikkas, The First Time ever a female Emcee shined over her male Counterparts since Sha Rock from The Funky Four Plus One, she was a duel threat.

The Mis Education of Lauryn Hill 19 Million Sold world wide, Classic Album

Speaking on Clef hating ass, his ass went solo first dropped a Genre changing Damn good solo album with the The Carnival received accolades, well deserving, even Lauryn supported him on the album by dropping bars

But when Lauryn wanted to go solo also and their was rumours of her going solo Clef hating ass ran to publications saying she wasn't ready and said he wasn't supporting her decision, Once she got the ball rolling his ass reached out and she turned his ass down, didn't need him and sold 19 million for her solo classic debut.

And she killed Clef lyrically on Lost One's

She won 5 Grammys Album of the Year, Best R&B Album, Best R&B Song, Best Female R&B Vocal Performance, and Best New Artist

NAACP Image Award, Essence Award, People Magazine 50 Most Beautiful People.

Wrote and Produced The Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin a hit with A Rose is a Rose that had her return to the charts

Wrote and Produced Mary J Bilge a hit All I Can Say. And both songs was Grammy Nominated

And she wrote and Produced on Santana 15 Million Sold album Supernatural

Lauryn Hill was running shyt from 96-99
