In leaked audio, Mark Zuckerberg rallies Facebook against critics and the US government

"You have someone like Elizabeth Warren who thinks that the right answer is to break up the companies ... if she gets elected president, then I would bet that we will have a legal challenge, and I would bet that we will win the legal challenge. And does that still suck for us? Yeah. I mean, I don’t want to have a major lawsuit against our own government. ... But look, at the end of the day, if someone’s going to try to threaten something that existential, you go to the mat and you fight."

Warren been getting lot of great free advertising lately with all the corporate types coming out against her

"It's just that breaking up these companies, whether it's Facebook or Google or Amazon, is not actually going to solve the issues. And, you know, it doesn't make election interference less likely. It makes it more likely because now the companies can't coordinate and work together."

Lol, now he actually cares about election interference

"It's why Twitter can't do as good of a job as we can. I mean, they face, qualitatively, the same types of issues. But they can't put in the investment. Our investment on safety is bigger than the whole revenue of their company." [laughter]

:mjlol:

Honestly speaking I can see/understand how people like Zuckerberg, who are at the top of their fields and among the most powerful/successful people in history, can end up being a$$holes. I bet they walked out that meeting heads held so high their necks touched their back.

He shytted on twitter. Your whole album sold what mine did in one week.

But he is right about plans to break up these tech companies. Let's take Facebook for example. How can you argue it has monopoly power when it's use is optional with no impact on a person's life.

It's not like we are talking about vital services like utilities.

The argument could be made that FB takes up a lot of people's attention through its main app and IG. Which then impacts advertising and other forms of media like journalism.

For the other members of the big 4 a second order effects type of argument would have to be made because the market share or lack of options on the part of the consumer line of argument wouldn't work.

In all likelihood because the Bjork neoclassical Anti-Trust framework is still dominant and the Trump admin doesn't really care, the big 4 ain't got shyt to worry about in the foreseeable future from a legal standpoint.

That doesn't mean I personally think it's ok what they are doing, but the system is overwhelmingly on their side.

Braking up facebook isn’t about users...it’s about the monopoly on online advertising revenue, data and information

How would you break them up? Breaking up Microsoft made a lot more sense. Facebook didn’t have those partitions.
