I took both my kids to swimming lessons thru the park district when they were little kids.

now they got a pool at they crib, so they can both swim fine.

out here, the park district even has free lessons at a lot of the parks.

there was just a news story I watched today about a young lady who fell off a boat into lake michigan and drowned cuz she couldn't swim and didn't have on a life preserver.

I used to go to day camp, and they had us helping swim classes at 13, as junior counselors. I always said I’d teach my kids to swim as soon as they were 4 years old. It’s such a vital life skill, and once you learn, you never forget. I had to get someone’s phone at the bottom of the pool at a party two years ago.

This is especially important in the black community, because there have been too many incidents where someone was drowning, and a bunch of people who don’t know how to swim jumped in, and also drowned.

I offered to give free swim lessons to my friends, and some declined, because they were afraid of water. I told them the love of parenthood would not save their kids. I can teach anyone to swim in 4 lessons.

I flipped over on a float in the pool of my grandmother's next door neighbor when I was like 7-8. Been shook ever since
I learned the hard way.......thrown in the deep end.......didn't panic.......figured out that if I blew bubbles on the way to the bottom, I could push off and surface for air and slaw drift my way to the shallows.........im big, but I never was big enough to whoop the uncle and cousins who did it though........it may be time though..........

@Ezekiel 25:17 I mean, yes natural rushing water is more intense than still but 99% of swimmers start with a pool; as you gain in skill and confidence you are also capable/good in bodies of water.
