People who don't live in NY Metro don't see how much of a flex it is to have a joint in NY. It's not as if the rents in NJ are all that much cheaper.

Flexing is a not necessarily a good thing. Often times it leads to financial ruin. Other times it prevents financial growth altogether. If you’re doing it to flex then that makes it even more ridiculous. The only way that makes sense is if you have enough money to where these terrible prices don’t even make a dent in your wallet. If you even have to think twice about whether it’s worth it you might want to take your ass to Jersey City and save a few hundred bucks per month.
