MJ is universally revered and loved. By peers, fans, and even people who don't watch basketball.

No Im not going to go that far but..... as far as popularity Lebron is entering in another level right now. Those new commercials that aired showed he was just a normal family guy. With MJ commercials back in the day it was oh you should be like Mike. Lebron's demeanor just seems much more humble which more people can relate to.
how u figure.. jordan hasnt played a game in like 10 years and is out golfing and wearing these fukked up jeans 24-7.. vs prime lebron at the height of his popularity and jordan sneaker sales at around 2 billion annually. lebron and kobe combined aren't even half that.

Yea but his basketball career is over. Lebron still got a good 5-6 years. At the end of the day I think the newer generation will relate more to Lebron than MJ.
