As a prestigious brand,
Nike having both the Swoosh and the Jumpman is an unbeatable combo. Jordan has been able to leverage his brand into many sports outside of basketball. In terms of basketball, I would actually say most kids nowadays don't care to hoop in Jordans. Kobes, Ja Morants, GT Cuts, Anthony Edwards and Sabrina's dominate the scene. Brand apparel? Yeah, hell, my son wore a Jordan shirt the first day of school this year. That said, my son is 11, has never seen MJ play but even in hearing him talk about Michael, there's a majestic nature to his game. The aesthetics are going to matter. When he shuts his door and plays on the rim hanging on his door, who are he emulating? LeBron? Barreling down the lane? Or Jordan, hanging in the air, doing a crazy reverse layup or something else. Don't get me wrong, he likes LeBron but he's a lover of Jordan's game. Of course, given he is a basketball fanatic, he knows all the talking points for the Jordan/LeBron argument and he sides with Jordan and he thinks Kobe is better than LeBron. Why? He's never really given me a clear answer that satisfies me on it but I think it is along the lines of why people can see themselves in Steph. LeBron is a one of one and was given the GOAT athletic body. Nobody can't emulate what LeBron has done. That said, Giannis is his favorite player all time though so go figure.
For shyts and giggles, this is some of the stuff in his room currently.
There are more Jordan things in his room but for a kid that's 11 and a man that hasn't played professional basketball in over 20 years, this is amazing staying power. In this case, Jordan is a one of one.
