I think she was Arabic and to be fair she helped him get cleaned up after he had fallen all the way off with drug abuse. He talked about it on an old episode of Foxxhole.

On a related note Black musicians used to be so much more racially conscious without feeling performative.

This is definitely an interesting perspective. I think there was a shift in the late 90s around race issues with some ppl thinking the shyt was all good. Many artists didn't feel it was necessary and they were wrong.

Today it does seem like some artists make music to get brownie points from the woke Twitter crowd.
