I didn't enjoy the Gifted(Loved Folarin Mixtape and the two previous albums) but its obvious he is getting blackballed by complex.
I don't know why he cares what Complex thinks. All they do is dikkride Kanye.
TBCFH, Wale would do much good with a "fukk the blogs" attitude that other artist have like Jay Z, J. Cole, Kid Cudi, etc that other successful rappers took. Pitchfork shyts on Cudi even though he has a huge devoted cult fanbase and will have his shyt remembered 20 years from now, blogs call J. Cole boring but this nikka beat Yeezus in sales and has some of the strongest sales out of most rappers, and Jigga is one half of a billion dollar power couple. If bloggers knew what the fukk they were talking about, they would have done a better job launching their own rap career instead of watching it take flight like a balloon full of heavy ass bricks.
Who gives a fukk what hipster fakkits that got picked on in high school thinks! Wale needs to stop obsessing. Game recognize game. Lame failed rap career bloggers only recognize other lame, failed rap career blog music.

You probably are a backpacker in your late twenties to mid thirties or you must only hang around black people.
Cudi isn't for you and you probably won't understand him. I'm 22 and I know A TON of Cudi fans from every race, especially those in college. Hell, even my spanish professor told me she was Cudi fan. There are a ton of fans still in high school. He has a cult following with the youth and the critics don't understand him because they are too old and aren't part of his target audience.
The critics don't understand his vision or attitude. They probably don't listen to any genre's outside of hip hop and R&B and they aren't the type to step outside of their comfort zone. They don't understand why he reaches out to indie bands like MGMT, Ratatat, Haim, Best Coast, etc. They think hip hop should remain in this tiny little box and they get upset when he rocks the boat.
His music isn't meant for grimy 30+ year old dudes rapping about drugs, hoes, stuntin' and snatching nikkas by the throat. He has his own lane and does his own thing. They can listen if they want to step inside Cudi's world because he is relatable.
Cudi is not the greatest rapper Cudi is a MUSICIAN and is much more well rounded than a lot of other artist. He's not a gangsta, he never slang crack, he doesn't make bravado rap and he doesn't talk about how rich he is, but he simply does him. For that he will be remembered 20+ years from now.
People are gonna be bumping Pursuit of Happiness 20+ from now. Can't say that for a lot of other shyt out now. These club bangers are nothing but bangers at the end day. Meant to pop off with a load sound and then forever stay quiet.
