If we are being honest. What good has ever came from that channel? They started off on some bigotry racist shyt refusing to play black music artists when they started. As time progressed, they pretty much just helped usher in a new level of sorry with its programming. Its flagship show which used to be the real world pretty much helped normalize this big brother is watching you, truman show shyt. It wasnt the first reality tv show but it popularized it. They tried to further influence gen y and the younger generations to be on some airhead, loving watered down music and bullshyt until they became irrelevant. Would not be surprised if the CIA was behind the scenes of MTV.

The Truth
MTV was fine.

I wasn’t a huge watcher, but as a network, I have no idea how you came to this conclusion

Yes in the beginning, it didn’t play black music because of every other racist decision rich people made back then. Everything was harder for black people back then, improved with every generation (usually).

But then, the likes of Run DMC with Aerosmith and Michael Jackson video premiers came through and crushed the buildings and black people were a part of MTV’s legacy ever since.

I preferred BET or even The Box, but MTV was harmless. I was more annoyed when they stopped playing music videos for more shows at first, but the shows were original and hilarious that eventually became a part of American culture regardless of race or nationality, although despite still being white american music heavy.

As a tangent if they weren’t the first to bring something like TRL mainstream, someone else would.

I feel we are exactly where we should be as a society. There would have been the Facebook concept with or without Marcus and by extension something like social media would have been a natural part of the timeline.

Man is never satisfied and one thing about the human is the insatiable thirst for more, better, faster.
