:wow:

TPAB >>> 2014FHD

But since Kendrick decided to censor the most powerful lines on Alright while dressed up as a convict and call himself a "Proud Monkey" got me feeling some type of way.

:patrice:

What yal think?

j cole's performance on letterman is one of the best and most heartfelt hip hop performances i've ever seen so it's not really a knock on kendrick. :yeshrug:
I mean... I was thinking like, "maybe CBS told him not to say that", but Cole was on CBS and performed a whole song about what's going on.

I'm interested to know who's call it was for him to censor himself. I ain't gonna front, that performance just fell flat when he didn't say those lines for me.

Kendrick comfortable enough to call himself a proud monkey, be chained up like an inmate but not comfortable enough to say how he really feels about police brutality.

I was disappointed brehs

That's becuz performances in an intimate setting, like a couple hundred people in the Letterman audience are better than performances in a basketball stadium in front of thousands.

The fair comparison would be Kendrick on Colbert vs Cole on Letterman.

i mean kendrick being a faux revolutionary has been talked about on here since around TPAB was dropping. i think a big difference between the two is cole went to college and kendrick didn't. kendrick doesn't really seem to fully grasp white supremacy, which is why you'll always see a big difference in the message between him and j cole's music regarding the issue.

even though cole did drop the "just playin" on the song about iggy winning the grammy last year too. at the end of the day both guys know where their bread is buttered. i still think cole seems much more disillusioned with being mainstream than kendrick. cole has found his niche audience and doesn't seem to give a fukk. meanwhile kendrick is clearly out here fishing for grammys when he hangs out with taylor swift.

Exactly.

Live band, dancing , several stages, several songs.

Look at the platform and audience kendrick performed in front of. The build up to his live performance.

Kendricks vocal control is unmatched.

Only fair comparison for me is kendrick performing "i" on snl, but for some reason the original if hard to find.

Both are great, don't follow OPs agenda.
