I felt the brand split worked perfectly for a very long time. RAW and SD! had unique styles and if one show completely sucked you could kind of tune that out and maybe watch the other show. They went back and forth in quality and obviously at one point SD! was the far better show. Heyman was booking it and I don't need to tell y'all about the SD! six era, it was really good. Compelling storytelling and great matches.
Now back in 2002-03 the roster was deep as hell. Yes, the brand split started to fade out but only because OVW wasn't doing enough to churn out talent. They didn't sign indy wrestlers with pedigrees too often. They had that one big class with Brock, Cena, Batista and Orton and that's a lot of talent but by the mid 2000s the well was dried up and Brock was gone. They also lost others, the death of Eddie and the Benoit murders.. that accelerated the need to bring the rosters back together.
But now in 2015 they have the performance center and NXT going strong. The roster is deep on talent. Maybe richer than they've ever been.
I don't think it'd be a bad idea. SD! is moving to Tuesday nights in January. They should pony up and make it live every Tuesday (I haven't heard if they are or not). This would also help out PPVs. Each show could have 4-5 storylines going and that could make for a good 7-8 match card on each PPV and each story would be fleshed out. It would also help with a show like WrestleMania because wrestlers would be kept apart for a year or more. We'd have actual dream matches. Imagine if like Reigns and Balor say were kept apart for two years. Never on the same show. Then all of a sudden they are in a main event story line. Something we had never seen.
