Cut off the tip, about an eighth of an inch. Light the foot, the end that Burns, with wooden matches by slowly burning the outer rim. Roll the cigar between your fingers as you do this. As you see it's starting to smoke all the way around, then light the middle by inhaling slowly. Smoke it slowly too. Roll it so it doesn't burn one side only. Enjoy the flavors. Try to figure them out. Drink water at first to keep your mouth clean.
I like infused types. Acid Toast and Kuba Kuba.

1. use a matchstick to light it (its traditional) some say it gives it a fuller burn
2. when smoking dont inhale 100% its for the ambiance and smell
3. make sure you celebrating at least some kinda achievement

I'm a cigar enthusiast. Even though you're in America you can get some good quality cigars that aren't Cubans, so don't fret.

You just wanna take deep pulls, not inhale, and just taste the cigar. Enjoy it with some strong and straight liquor. A good brand to start out with is Romeo y Juilieta, as they have the most noticeably spicy cigars, it'll get you used to it (and addicted :hamster:)

What's the best brands for beginners?

I smoked some in Cuba And Dominican Republic, but don't tend to back home, cos I'm never sure which ones to buy and how much I should be spending.
