both teams came into the series playing their games, rightfully so, they both won their conferences doing that
GS eeks out game 1, drops the next 1 in a toss up game that could have gone either way like game 1
but game 3 the Warriors got beat up a bit, they made it close, but for much of the game, it was looking worrisome
BUT - and heres where the series completely flips
*** late in game 3 though, Kerr finally pulls out Bogut, realizes Iggys supreme importance and inserts David Lee to open up the offense and give Curry a big who can play pick & roll with him at the top of the key
Game 4, Kerr, no holds barred style, benches Bogut, who started all season, and completely removes him from the rotation. Lee continues to open the floor offensively and make plays while Steph gets him the ball off traps
Iggy, now starting, is glued to Bron full time, while receiving the weak side help they didnt provide early in the series and completely takes Bron out of his game. Holds him down to 20. Iggy is also exploiting Blatts refusal to counter the small ball lineup along with the Warriors just destroying the Cavs bigs in transition and off switches
Kerr also decides to play Livingston 20+ minutes a game to close this series, as he pushes the pace against the Cavs bigger lineups and continues to find mismatches on offense. He also can check Bron for spells 1v1
Kerr then takes it a step further and utilizes Ezeli's added athleticism over Bogut to counted Mosgov/Thompson better and finds room in the rotation for him, and gets results back
and I get that the Cavs are short handed, but Blatt has been so futile in trying to counter any button Kerr has pressed. I laughed at the idea of giving some of the guys at the end of the bench burn, but you cant continue to play non effective guys without seeing that others can offer. I mean Delly fell off a cliff right as expected this series, and he is still playng him heavy and getting nothing back. Harris could at least be a fresh look for him, Marion could be a fresh look from the shyt you're getting from Jones, etc
Kerr outcoached, out maneuvered, whatever you want to call it, Blatt something SERIOUS this series. Once he made his adjustments, the series was straight up never close, every button he pushed loomed large. Its been blowouts since, 3 straight W's. I got to give props to Steve man - he put his team in FULL position to succeed. Even his subtle adjustments to the offense he tinkered with, all those decisions he made, continued to make it easier for his players to perform at a higher level.
Thoughts?
