Lately, especially in Cena matches... TSC has been getting fed up with the overuse of finishing moves in big matchces.

I mentioned Cena mainly due to the AA going from automatic 3 second tan to, 2.9 seconds in every match.

The WWE does it to create suspense, but it's seems to have the opposite effect later as many people are automatically expecting someone to kick out after a finishing move.

Do you guys like the use of finishers today? Or should they go back to the older style where they use finishing moves as... Well, a finisher.

Cena matches are the worst, not only does he spam finishers, they're no sold. Really lacks any ring psychology (using Cena but most wrestlers rn do as well)

What's the point of calling them finishers if they never finish the match the first time :ld:

Why spam the same finisher when you could have two different finishers, that way it's a bit more varied :ld:

this has been the go to cena main event match for a few years now.

the crowds seem to be into them for the most part, but they are :russell: to me, except for a coouple exceptions. like the Lesnar match in 2012 or the lesnar match last year, where there were actual storys told

Terrible. It's the standard formula or a safe "good match." Adequate time + competent workers + kicking out of a lot of finishers.

shyt really doesn't do anything for me. Meanwhile, Bayley and Sasha telling a great story, showing emotions, playing on the crowd, getting us a true payoff in Bayley finally winning - that resonates with me and it's something I'll remember.

I know the concept of a "finishing move" is silly...but it's wrestling.

if it's a regular tv match u should be able to get a win with a signature if it looks cool enough. if its a main event on tv or a lower card ppv match then it should have one finisher, maybe a spot where the opponent has his foot on the rope or rolls out of the ring. finisher spamming should be saved for big 4 events and only in title/marquee matches.

if someone has a submission finisher it might be able to work because they're wearing the person down. didn't flair used to do that w/ the figure 4?

I think there's a time and a place to do it. And I can love a match like that in the right context and story, but the more you see it, the less impact it has.

It ends up being a self conscious "epic" that has diminishing returns because there's no good story to back it up, so it's basically a spotfest and we all know those tend to overstay their welcome very fukking quickly.

If the finishing move more often than not doesn't finish the match....Is it still a finisher or just a move?

They've overused in all their matches, not just the main eventers that no one really believes a match is ending after the first finisher. They need to scale it back and maybe even have signature moves finish off the opponent. Like Dolph has never won with a Fameasser, why not have him win a match with it. Cena win a match with the springboard stunner. Ambrose with his stupid clothesline. Then after awhile, the finishers get perceived like actual finishers again :manny:

It does kinda surprise me that all the posts in the thread mostly reject this type of match/style but every time I'm on a show thread there's tons of breh loving matches like this :patrice:

Though I think there's need to be distinction. I'm still mostly entertained by a Cena (or Owens, or Tanahashi) "epic" but I don't see any greatness in it.
