Nope, New York City's murder rate maxed out at 15 per 100,000 in 1990, New Orleans and Detroit TODAY are at over 40 per 100,000.
No, NYC murder rate was in he 30s which is very high for a city of 8 million people. They have over 2,000 murders.
Then you consider the fact that a mid size city like washington DC had almost 500 homicides, more than any city in the west during that time period not named Los Angeles

618,000 people died in the Civil War during a four year period.

Not to mention that we committed god damn genocide against the Native American over a period of 300 years.

No doubt it was terrible. Just saying that if you're gonna talk "in American history" then you should not use any recent time period at all.

I know people want to push this "the world is going to hell" thing, but the world and America specifically is safer than it's ever been in history.

It'd be even safer if drugs were legal. All that violence in the 80's and 90's was pushed by the black market demand for coke.

Its al subjective I guess. With the civil war, most people killed are soilders. I would say the violence in the crack era was more unpredictable and senseless. Cops getting sniped from the top of buildings like a video game, kids getting their hands nailed to tables and shot 30 times for being short a few dollars, etc..

Yep. Same sort of shyt happened during prohibition.

It all goes back to the problems associated with making drugs illegal. When there's a market for a product, someone will provide it regardless of legality.

The only difference is that they don't have courts to resolve their disputes, so they use the only weapons they have which is intimidation and violence.

In the early 90s there were an average 400 murders here. That's high as fukk for a city that only has about 700,000 people. The average now is around 250. That crack era had nikkas going hard

you right, but drugs are still illegal, so why is the violence only a fraction of what it was just 20 years ago
