Kyrie Irving Reportedly Waived Trade Kicker to Facilitate Celtics Deal
ALEC NATHAN
AUGUST 22, 2017

Kyrie Irving reportedly walked away from some major cash to facilitate Tuesday's blockbuster trade to the Boston Celtics.

According to ESPN.com's Dave McMenamin, Irving waived his 15 percent trade kicker, which would have paid him an additional $5.8 million, to clear the way for a deal that sent him to the Celtics in exchange for Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, the Brooklyn Nets' 2018 first-round pick and Ante Zizic.

But wait there's more...

Kyrie Irving Would Forfeit $200m 'Supermax' Contract If Traded by Cavaliers
ALEC NATHAN
JULY 21, 2017

Kyrie Irving's reported desire to be traded could cost him some serious cash.

According to ESPN.com's Brian Windhorst, Irving would forfeit his ability to earn a "supermax" contract in 2019 through the NBA's new designated player veteran extension. This policy in the league's newly installed collective bargaining agreement "was meant to deter star players from leaving their teams as they came up on their third contract."

As outlined by RealGM's Christopher Reina, players can become eligible for the "supermax"—which allows them to earn 35 percent of the salary cap—if they "have been named to an All-NBA team in the previous season or two of the previous three, or either be an MVP or Defensive Player of the Year in any of the previous three seasons. In addition to that individual achievement, players must also remain on the team they were on during their rookie contracts
."

Your team didn't get the worst end of the trade stick tho:

Cavs won the trade

Celtics lost the trade

But then there's MyKnee who is the one who really LAWST in the trade

LAWST money

LAWST playing time

LAWST prestige (Lakers fans will start calling Lonzo a better player within 18 months)

And he also LAWST his real name (new name is MyKnee Hurting)

How Cavs won the trade when they traded for a star(isiah) that they didn’t even keep cause of poor play, and in return traded their whole roster for a bunch of players that won’t help him win a ring? This Cavs team as constructed has no Kyrie type of player that will be crucial if they make it out the east and lebron might gone next season. Meanwhile kyrie and Gordon will be back next year with a Boston team that will be a little more experience and certainly better than the Cavs if lebron has left by then.
