Idk man. That whole shyt was confusing. You would THINK Nas was talking about how shytty hip hop music was at the time and how dumb nikkas took over (look where we are now).

But you look at his interviews and it's just him dissing record labels

That’s what it was about. Labels were moving mad and having horrible plans

The one-hit wonders of that time period, was when I almost gave up listening to Hip Hop

Those one hit wonders were easily avoidable. I never understood how people define that era by one hit wonders. Nobody was looking at them as anything other than the one hit they had or were propping them up as anything great. Those songs and artists were good for ring tones, and the one off song that was hot in the club or social gathering. Nobody looks at the 90's and defines that era where 69 Boyz, 95 South, or Tag Team as definitive groups or groups that defined an era or sound. People still know "Whoop There It Is" and "Tootsie Roll". Even the good one hit wonders from that era are forgotten. Who talks about Ahmad or Skee-Lo? Who can even remember the names of the albums.

2004-2009 produced a lot of great music. To focus only on the one hit wonders or the disposable music from that era is the equivalent to someone cutting themselves and blaming the pain on someone else. No, those are self inflicted wounds.
