I gotta go with premier on this one as much as it hurts me to say

RZA's production has fell off more than any producer ever it's crazy plus RZA has resorted to single copy album gimmicks and as a long time fan I can't get down with that at all. The last true dope ass classic RZA beat to me is Raekwon state of grace like 10 years ago. The beats on OB4CL2 were decent but other than that RZA is wack and out of touch these days

gotta go with preemo

At his best, RZA's more creative and versatile and his best work is impeccable but the lionshare of his greatest gems are in the 90s.

Premo's more one dimensional but he's still dope and way more consistent. I was digging his production well into the 2000s. I ain't heard no great RZA beats in a loooooong time :francis:

:ehh:

This might not qualify but RZA's done some solid soundtrack work throughtout the 2ks. Imo Afro Samurai's and Kill Bill's scores were solid projects.

Premo crafted enter projects too. Gang Starr? Jeru? Others too...
Aint no one sleeping on Gangstarr or Jeru:stopitslime:

A premo album is something like a collection of ill beats.
He never focused on the elements of hip hop production that exist outside the groove... Im talking dialogue clips, sample layering, track sequencing, finding the right atmosphere. Those are the things that set RZA apart.

And I think that before RZA started doing his thing, hip hop was just hardcore funk. RZA brought a different kind of mentality and elevated hip hop into the realm of abstract art.
