I’ve had some fierce debates online and with some uncivilized people irl about how to properly use the garbage disposal that’s in your kitchen sink.

Please don’t tell me yall are dumping actual plates of food in the sink :what: My ex used to do this and his stepdad almost did it at my house before I stopped him. Where yall come from?

Well tell us what it's used for in your opinion?

I think you should dump most everything in the trash and the small remaining in the disposal
lol just runoff “food” bits pretty much after you’ve dumped into the trash can. Like I said I know grown adults who’ll just walk their plate directly to the sink

Scraps,

Eggshells,
chunks of fat from when you cut up some meat,
unedible parts of the carrot or onions when you cut up veggies, things like that.
Unfinished food scrapings from your plate.

basically anything that would make your garbage smell.
but obviously not tossing whole slices of uneaten pizza in there or something crazy like that.

also avoid anything that would break the shyt like Chicken Bones

Whenever i want to clean it i put in some crushed ice from the fridge and soap and turn it on.

Incidental food that I can't bother to scrape off a dish

I use real scraps for compost and throw that other ish out

Every now and then I might put a citrus peel in there for fun

apparently i'm not supposed to put egg shells in there. Never seemed to have an issue though.
although it does say "a large number of egg shells" I don't usually put more than two at once 4 at the most.
Funny enough i avoid putting fruit pits in there though because it will jam it up.
