I'm pretty sure you aren't supposed to put eggshells in there breh
I feel like the eggshells don't hurt. The article i post said you should used them either.
but it said specifically not to use a large amount of eggshells. ANd the reasoning was because they don't decompose quickly and build up.
So as long as its just a small amount and you do plenty of other stuff in between i think its alright.

I put ice in there periodically to help clean it out and break off any build up.

I just replaced my kitchen sink and I was asking myself the same question if I should bother putting the garbage disposal back on

I think two things, one when any food waste coming off of plates that you can just wash down the drain and grind it up. Second if you have a lot of food waste you can just grind it up. It goes to the treatment plant and just naturally decomposes instead of going out in the trash and adding more weight to your trash bags. Thats probably good for people in the city.

I always scrape my plate as best as possible into the trash and then rinse it. Any small stuff that gets into the sink I’ll then run the disposal

Garbage disposal & females are a big liability to your kitchen sink drain . I personally remove everything off my plate or pots before it goes in the sink

i have an unlimited maintenance contract so the garbage disposal's for anything that fits down the drain lol... same deal with my bathroom, i get to enjoy my sweet, sweet baby wipes with absolutely no regard for the plumbing or my wallet :ahh:

edit: mine's an insinkerator badger 5xp, don't buy one... this is one more reason i abuse it, it's not like i'm ruining anything nice

scraps of food followed by dish liquid and a run of hot water

Clean that mfer with bleach once a week

I clean mine with lemons.

that said, I use my disposal all the time. that way food scraps aren't in the trash getting stinky and it greatly reduces the number of times I have to take out the trash.

Scraps,

Eggshells,
chunks of fat from when you cut up some meat,
unedible parts of the carrot or onions when you cut up veggies, things like that.
Unfinished food scrapings from your plate.

basically anything that would make your garbage smell.
but obviously not tossing whole slices of uneaten pizza in there or something crazy like that.

also avoid anything that would break the shyt like Chicken Bones

Whenever i want to clean it i put in some crushed ice from the fridge and soap and turn it on.

yeah I put eggshells in mine as well. along with fruit peels and avacado peels etc. pretty much anything except bones and pits from fruit.

you have no plants at all in your yard or house? eggshells are good for them.
