yea, making about 35 K a year. 40 hours a week.

Now when you say Real Estate, thats a broad term to a nikka. You working for a REIT? You working for an asset manager? A realtor? The loan division of a bank?

Lol excuse my inquisitiveness, i just like hearing about internships and shyt especially in the field of finance. We all gotta prosper my nikkas.

Every internship I've had was BORING AS fukk. They didn't really have enough for me to do, so I just tagged along at various points in between doing mindless tasks. But they paid significantly better than any other near min wage job I could've got, plus stable hours that didn't interfere with my social life (business hours) plus it looks great on a resume, so I didn't complain.

My best advice: don't settle for what I described. Make sure you're getting something, professionally, out of the the job (outside of the resume entry). If you're left without abutting to do, make sure your supervisor knows and knows often until they change.

THIS. During my senior year in high school I interned at a law firm in my town. It was mostly job shadowing, filing stuff, answering phones, and waiting around all day (although I do have a couple of :leon: stories). But like homie said, it looked great on my resume, and the guy who ran the place actually went to the college I wanted to go to, so he reached out to somebody he knew in the admissions office and told them to be on the lookout for my application :obama:

take advantage of all in house and out-house learning opprotunities while youre there. i'm doing this in the form of going to classes my company offers from Bloomberg seminars @ Bloomberg's Office to Online Courses through the system. Also try to meet as many people (of worth) that you can

Its cool, Im just as inquisitive about it. A friend of a contact has offered me an internship with him, I suppose his title would be a realtor :yeshrug:
I just know he owns a company that does vacation rentals along the beaches here in Savannah, GA.

:ohhh:
Thanks for the knowledge, and here I thought they'd be doing so much that I couldnt keep up. Im not sure if real estate is what I want in my future but the guy I'd be working for is an excellent contact to have, he brushes elbows with the city's big-wigs all the time. If anything I'll meet people in a position of power, cant go wrong with that :ehh:

I've done probably about 5 internships through the course of undergrad and grad and I'll say this...if anything work your ass off, stay later and ask for more assignments...let them know you are hungry...and when you leave...at the very least have a few contacts for a reference just in case you want to work there someday... plus see if you can get a letter of recommendation from the top person there. It can pay off down the road with a new job or grad school.

One of the internships I went through was with a very large corporation in a totally different city. They had 200 interns that year, put us all up in housing and had all types of events and activities for us. Shyt was hella fun, plus I had a job in the funnest department out the whole program. I was eating hors d'ouevres 4 days out the week, going to hella free baseball games and hockey games and trips out to the woods and shyt. But I will say this, in a scenario like that try not to clique up only with the black kids if you're black. Them lil nikkaz is cool, but as we all know we get petty sometimes and it's just better to schmooze with the cacs from time to time.

I had another internship where it was a total snoozefest, but the work experience I got there pretty much stamped my job prospects out of graduation. No unemployment for me :win:.......yet :sadbron:
