Especially ones that in retrospect werent that bad.

One that comes to mind is Infamy because of all the backlash it gets. I was probably 10 or 11 when it dropped and being a big mobb head not too big on lyrics (cause i could barely interpret the deep shyt) the album was always fire to me. Off the strength of Getaway, Nothing Like Home, There I go Again and Get at me alone it was always fire. And to this day I stand by that statement. Hurt nikkas, Kill that nikka, Clap, Crawlin...all fire to me even if P lost his tenacity. Solid 8/10 album to me and better than almost all of the shyt out nowadays

My question to yall is how disappointed were you when this shyt dropped and what were others saying about it?

Add some other albums too.

i remember the Massacre being a huge let down to me though and others too.

In retrospect it wasnt bad but seeing him go straight bubblegum on the singles was :scusthov: add to the fact that he was dissing Jadakiss and I had to go cold turkey on 50

For me, it was Hip Hop Is Dead. The hype for that album was crazy. There was him signing to Def Jam, him and Jay squashing the beef, that Scratch magazine cover confirming that Premo was producing Nas's new album (which was going to be Hip Hop Is Dead). There was hype off the title alone. Anticipation continued to build when Nas said that he had beats from Dr. Dre, Scott Storch, and Timbaland as well. Then Kanye and Just Blaze were mentioned. There was an interview with Nas and Rakim and I think they even talked about a possible collaboration. Leading up to the album, DJ Premier was talking about him and Nas doing records. Much fuss was made about the potential Damian Marley collabo "White Man's Paper" produced by Afrykan.

December arrives and the album drops. It's a decent album, but none of the music on the album was as powerful as the album's title. Only a few producers that were speculated about or confirmed actually made the album. The Rakim collaboration turned out to be an All Star collaboration featuring KRS-One and Kanye West as well, but it wasn't even on the album. It even had a remix produced by Premo.

"Money Over BS", "Black Republicans", "Hustlers", "Still Dreamin", "Let There Be Light", "Hold Down The Block", "Can't Forget About You", and "Hope" were worth the hype, but it was still a let down of an album overall.
