Let's talk about colorism in the black community

At this point is it just jokes or do you consider it a serious issue?

I'll admit, I'm always at the "lightskin/darkskin nikkas/bytches be like" memes, and the team lightskin/darkskin jokes. but recently my boy straight up told me he was done messing with lightskin chicks and listed specific reasons as if that shyt was scientific fact

I wanted to remind him that his mama is lightskin but I let him have his moment

It disgusts me to hear jokes about the tone of a black person's skin...its mindless seasoning by whites to look at each other as inferior/superior based on skin tone....we are all beautiful black people and should treat each as such...whites have always relegated dark-skinned blacks to lower status everywhere they have gone and that same propganda is still flowing today...we gotta break that chain and cherish our beautiful skin

Yep..blacks like John Hope, president of Morehouse College, had skin as white as white people, but best believe during the Atlanta Race Riot they were looking to lynch him and his great wife, Lugenia Burns Hope
