Pac dead
Suge in jail
Dre is AWOL
Snoop is stranded and on his way to No Limit
Dogg Pound in disarray
Ice Cubes fall off has already begun
MC Eiht had hit his peak
Ruthless and Death Row are over (except for Pac post humour records and Bone albums)
The Bay Area wave has hit its peak
Bad Boy and jiggy rap run rap and the South is on the come up

:snoop:

These were some trying times for west coast rap fans.

:ohlawd:

In the midst of this post apocolyptic world, one man remained to hold down the coast.

From 1997 to 2000, Quik oversaw and delivered:

Suga Free- Street Gospel (1997)
Quik- Rythymalism (1998)
The Konnectid Project
Mausberg- Non Fiction (:to: RIP)
Balance and Options

^ The last three within the span of months in 2000

Straight up, Quik is one of my favourite artists ever and a top 5 GOAT producer of his catalogue alone, but this shyt right chea.....this is the shyt that makes this man the West Coast God that he is

True shyt. Was about to mention Mausberg's album too but then the last second i saw you mentioned it too. You're right. I love Quik. But he was on a heavy wave really from 1995 to 2000. But its not even that he ever had a fall off IMO. I personally love cuts from Balance & Options and love Under Tha Influence, Trauma etc too that came after.

My personal favorite will always be his 1st tho lol. 2nd prolly is Safe & Sound & Rhythmalism.

That Suga Free joint tho? Geeeez...such a flawless production. And Mausberg? Fuuuuhgeeeetaboutit, dogs.

Salute to the thread, Quik & the team:salute:

You know what....

I really didn't think of it like that until you put it together. Not that he doesn't get props but now that he's not really putting out music he kind of gets forgotten. He really held us down with music his entire career and in some pretty shaky times.

Taadow is right about Mack 10 too.

That beat be did for stalley is amazing as well as the song he did with bone that was a remake of the formula.

Dont know if this has been posted. But its Quiks most recent interview. Dude is in a good space right now. Hopefully we get some more work from him. He kind of alluded to working on that Straight Outta Compton soundtrack. Dre has been keeping it under wraps but cats been out here grinding.

yes! :obama::ohlawd::mjcry:

david blake is as underrated as it gets. he is the definition of underrated :wow:

@Techniec you summed it up perfectly and i could not have said it any better bruh. great and powerful thead. 5 stars, dap and +rep :salute:

but quik kept the ball rollin' durin' those sad and tragic times. plus, he was goin' through it himself because he had lost a loved one durin' the recordin' of rhythm-al-ism and a close friend, mausberg in 2000. all the while, here he is just workin' and keepin' his groove. shyt, one could even argue that that 97' to 00 is where quik peaked musically even though many say safe +sound is his best album (myself included) but musically he continued to grow and expand post 95'

i've said it before and i'll say it again, quik is truly a genius. the brother is musically gifted, he is music :myman:

i could post so many different quik or quik related songs but i'll just post this one for now. this damn near brings tears to my eyes :mjcry:

quik's range as a producer is insane. quik had debarge soundin' the best he had sounded since his "after the storm" album in the earlier part of the 90's. but quik bought this brother back in a real way and had him channelin' marvin gaye with this interlude. i be just drivin' with this shyt blastin' and the windows down :obama:

listen to how el's carries and holds those notes over that smooth and melodic instrumental. bruh was channelin' marvin heavy. it's like a ghost :wow:
