unless there is a dramatic shift Hip hop IS for white people now....we have always been the gatekeepers musically but something happened where this generation of blacks instead of being students and embracing our history and upholding standards literally have set out to rebel against ourselves and made a culture where learning and acknowledging your black history on any level isnt "cool" its considered "larry holmes". for generations music was cultivated in the church and family cookouts which tied the generations together that has all but been killed. the result is a vast percentage of us becoming fruity loop producers and for the most part making the shyttiest music possible that doesnt require music skills/knowledge or groundbreaking sound but most importantly great songwriting and thinking just turning up..that has set the bar so low and made the formula for a "acceptable" song so easy and simple anyone can mimic now and do it while raping the culture and not giving one fukk about black people feelings or inclusion and that goes beyond just hip hop even rnb white/other artists are literally making black music raping old songs and styles our parents and grandparents grew on and using black people to surround the artist as human props in the video to make it look accepting visually in this new era like bruno marsfor example.. i like bruno mars music btw but im real and see what he is doing he has the best scam in music going on and I cant fault him when you have black artists who should have took the mantle and run but instead want to be bloods and make music rappers do ..black artists dont give a fukk about integrity or the big picture in general anymore they will hop on a track to give visual co-signs to any vulture in the name of getting the bag we have prostituted ourselves its a systematic effort being used to slowly eliminate us but nikkas dont see whats going on..nikkas dont even really put darkskin or the average regular looking black women in they videos anymore...The industry changed the vetting system for sales to control perception and inflate and manipulate numbers and accolades to make songs seem bigger than they actually are .. drake is a prime example look at god's plan being double the #2 song they aint even trying to hide it no more:heh: you have vultures in the light and bold enough like post malone able to shyt on the hip hop genre while still working with black artists who co sign vulturing to help dude get manipulated #1 rankings because there are no repercussions .. the industry can now tell you artist xyz sold whatever they want to say and dudes eat that shyt up without question just follow trend...There will always be songs here or there but anybody dealing in reality knows hip hop is all but finished its been that way for few years, white artists have been king and queens of the bay for years now, a rainbow colored mexican is the hottest rapper from NY, cash me out girl doing numbers, random instathots dropping music videos daily...

i dont think its becoming solely white, i think its splitting, just like alot of things in america right now, and maybe the world.

theres more white rappers than ever and they are making a solid living, but do they have black fans? no, mostly not. you may have some rare exceptions like g-eazy, but even his fan base is prolly mostly white

black artists are still coming out and making noise and having careers, but the higher level black artists will still have more of a mixed audience than the white ones

its gonna be interesting continuing to watch how the music and the culture evolves with the growth of the white hip hop market, and seeing how the black market will adapt.

maybe its just time to go focus on making some other music hot again, brehs need to get instruments and bring rock back since that shyt seems dead in the water

Pretty pointless. You can buy Youtube views, you can fool people into thinking you're unsigned, but you can't force people to like and buy your music.

There's also the fact that people use this "industry plant" talking point to downplay artists they don't like. You're not going to find an artist with a 100% grassroots movement. Even the "plant" had to work in order to get the attention of a label to want to market them as an unsigned artist.

You also have people that want to act new as if this is some new practice. It is only prevalent now because of social media and people now have access to information that they didn't have in the past and are more aware. A lot of The Source "unsigned hype" features either had deals or had industry connects. It's not by coincidence that those guys wnet from the unsigned hype column to superstardom.

Many still don't fully understand the transition from going from unsigned to signed to becoming an artist that a label wants to invest real money in.

:duck:

The whole point of marketing is to get people to buy your product. If that shyt had no effect, there wouldn't be any marketing. You can certainly coerce people into buying your shyt for all kinds of reasons with all kinds of tactics.

That's not the point. The point is when you lie about being independent to sell a grassroots image but in fact you're not. How can you not see how fraudulent that is? That's the perfect example of a person selling narrative instead of music, and that's why hip hop's in the shythole it is now. Because people won't take time to make music that speaks for itself. The rainbow-colored gimmick teeth/lean/whatever new gimmick and the 'independent rap savior' gimmick are really the same bullshyt when it comes down to it.

the plan is to make it white. they pigeonholing black rappers into a box (trap) while white rappers come in with their pseudo substance and they label them as better cus when its compared to trap music its going to sound better to the cac crowd. like when olberman said he hated all rap until eminem went at trump.

its about to start happening.

And yet we still have these threads about an artist getting X amount of YouTube views in a few hours on this forum. :mjlol:

If you're following sales in 2018 you either work for one of these labels, you're a Stan, or :flabbynsick: and trying to find out what's hot out here.
