I'm just going to consider true fast food joints, not fast casual. Also taking into account, price and the speed of service. There will be some surprises but just my opinion.
High tier:
Chik Fil-A: Expanding the way it has, has hurt the quality of food some, but it is still very solid and I get the food promptly. Every time. Pretty impressive.
Jollybee: This is mostly a NY/NJ thing. It's from the Philippines. They make fried chicken and burgers. The fried chicken is excellent and they have arguably the best chicken sandwich in the business, its not as breaded as other places but it's obvious they marinate the chicken for a long time and the sauce has just the right amount of kick. They also serve spaghetti (surprsingly good) and theu have peach/mango pies that are cool.
Checkers: Has really good fries (maybe a little overseasoned). Also has an underrated spicy chicken sandwich that they sell 2 for $5. They also sell chicken wings that are good if small. The food always seems to be made to order and its always quick.
Popeyes: As someone who gets family meals they have the best prices by a margin. They Spicy chicken sandwich era from the pandemic brought them back and they have good wings and the pickle specials they had was better than I thought. They need to bring back the chicken wraps with the rice and beans they were god tier.
Dominos - I think they made the most improvements of any of the pizza chains. The pizza is decent but the sandwiches, pasta bowls and wings are good. Plus they are priced aggressively if you need to feed rugrats on the cheap.
Mid Tier:
Wendys: Although not quite as good as it used to be. They have the best nuggets of any fast food and they make a nice spicy chicken sandwich. I also like the Daves Single. I just wish they brought back their classic grilled chicken salads. Service can vary greatly though from location to location. The fries have to be fresh and eaten on the spot to be good.
McDonalds: Its literally middle of the road food. Its neither good or bad, but it's quick and will fill you up. They need to bring back the southern chicken sandwich and those Deluxe burgers from 2011 though. I'd pay for those.
Little Caesars - They are priced cheap, just wish they had a few more pizza options. But what is there is pretty decent
White Castle - Very popular in NJ, I'm old enough to witness the fall off. They had real buns and swapped to these airy artificial ones. I don't love the switch to Panko bread crumbs in the fish sandwich and they now have Hi-C instead of their proprietary Orange drink with that said they have the best onion rings and mozzarella sticks of any fast food restaurant and the shrimp and fish nibblers are fire.
Arby's - Arby's is weird. I figured out not to order the roast beef sandwiches, they are mediocre BUT they have the BEST FRIES in fast food even over McDonalds those curly fries are perfectly seasoned and they are generous with them. They also make a really good fish sandwich believe it or not (seasonal) and GET the brisket sandwich (also seasonal) when they have it.
Dunkin Donuts - Its kind of meh. It's not bad but it's not good either. I do like their cold brew coffee though and I think their coffee is better than Starbucks. I wish they didn't get rid of their chicken sandwiches though, I get it, it probably was expensive for the franchise but I would have paid an extra dollar or two for them.
Panda Express - It is still decent and cheap BUT its clear they are changing the flavors to cater to white people's palates. I want my spicy orange chicken back.
Trash
KFC - They are trying to improve a lot of restaurants in my area changed management and the service is clearly trying to improve. but the chicken doesn't hit the same and its clear they are cheaping out in the ingredients and sides.
Taco Bell - I have no idea why but it's popular with the gen Alpha. I only eat there if I have my young nieces and nephews with me. I do like their nacho fries when they have them and they had a decent chicken taco but they had better things on the menu like the creamy chipotle chicken wrap that was actually good, years back.
Burger King - The burgers themselves are good but almost everything else is mediocre/trash. The service on average takes way to long to end up with essentially lukewarm burgers and I don't even order the fries at all.
Sbarro - Used to be really good back in the 90s -2000s. Its a shadow of itself now and is only in a few of the malls.
Pizza Hut - The pizza has gone from great to trash. Dominos makes a better stuff crust and the wings are overpriced.
