In November 2016 there will be a presidential election, all 435 seats in the House of Representatives will be up for election, and about a third of the senate is up for election.

We could create 3-5 pieces of legislation and demand our hired constituents pass them into law, or we'll vote someone into office who WILL pass the legislation come 2016. It's basically get down or lay down.

The Coli has over 20,000 members :blessed: all over the country. We could easily use this website/forum as a platform for political organizing.

It would be smooth... All we'd ask is for members of the Coli to get the word out and push the legislation through their social media, then make sure to vote on election day. That's it.

Ya'll wanna change some sh*t for real this is how we could do it.

You need to focus on an idea, and not a fanbase.

The 3-5 pieces of legislation is the idea, and the focus. Our message to the president and congress is pass these things into law or we vote you out in 2016. Period.

And we make it such common sense legisaltion that 9/10 people in the general public would instantly support it.

:ehh:

too many c00ns and cacs on here tho :dame:

c00ns and cacs want an improved quality of life too :heh:

These benefits are going to be for all people. No race, ethnicity, or class attached.

You have no money.

We have better than money, we have VOTES breh. We control the office itself and who gets elected. They need us more than they need a lobbyist. The vote is the supreme decision maker in politics, that's civics 101.
Actually violence (or threat thereof) is the supreme decision maker in politics, but we won't go there for now

Stop being so pessimistic. If you don't want to help or participate then :camby:

You're right the vote is ideally the ultimate decision maker, but its impact is minimised when portions of the electorate aren't politically aware or politically literate. The dissemination of information, while improving thanks to the Internet and other things, remains an issue currently(of which money in politics is a reason for).

If you are serious about accomplishing anything, you need to present your plan to the intelligent pessimist, because that is the person who is going to tell why your plan is not going to work, and give you the opportunity to modify your plan...

If you are serious about accomplishing anything, you need to present your plan to the intelligent pessimist, because that is the person who is going to tell why your plan is not going to work, and give you the opportunity to modify your plan...

The strategy is super simple. 1) Create 3-5 pieces of legislation that fit two criteria: a) have the greatest positive effect on society and b) the most number of people can rally around. For example, a basic level of free healthcare--the majority of people would say yes to that. A tier of free universal pre-K and free public college in every state--the majority of people would say yes to that. Etc.

Then we let our government know we want these pieces of legislation passed into law or they will be voted out on November 2016... and all the lobbyist money in the world won't be able to save them.

We use the Coli as a platform to get the social media push started. We've seen how quickly movements can go viral using the internet (occupy wall street, ice bucket challenge, etc) and we'd use that to our advantage when organizing. That's the beauty of it is we don't have to go knocking door-to-door like the old days... we can leverage the power of the internet to connect people to a real, national, social movement.

Or if there's a suggestion to improve and modify the plan please share it, there's a lot of smart folks on here :feedme:

Everybody always talking sh*t about how society is f*cked up and something needs to change. And November 2016 is a clear opportunity to institute some of that change... and all folks would have to do is type on a keyboard and show up on voting day like

First and foremost we need to establish the 3-5 pieces of legislation. The criteria I'm looking at is the cross section between 1) what pieces of legislation would do the most in terms of improving the quality of life for ALL people, and 2) what legislation would receive almost unanimous support from the public.

Right now I'm thinking the top 4 are:

1. Full Employment
-with minimum income and benefits

2. Free tier of public healthcare

3. Free tier of public education
-pre-k
-public colleges

4. Affordable housing and mandatory housing
-no more homeless, even if people are sharing a room split by a curtain

Battling for that 5th spot are:

5a. Taxes
-proportional tax on all individuals and corporations
-negative income tax for people under a certain income

5b. Criminal Justice reform
-job training and education programs for ex-offenders
-drug law reform; option of rehab for some
-federal oversight of all police shootings

What do folks think? I need feedback.

I disagree with pretty much all of you on every topic that matters, and would do anything I could to stop your ideas from becoming law.

How about these?

1. Ban unions
2. Mandatory sentencing & 3-strike laws nationwide
3. Cut all social programs
4. Cut corporate taxes

Sound better? :blessed:
