so I'm thinking about trading in my A6 for a more reliable fuel efficient vehicle. Just wondering which car you guys would prefer over the next.

I got that TL but an 04. I fukkin love the car but the MPG isn't too great. I'm getting about 20MPG - not terrible but a little lower than I want. Can't go wrong with either really. Both hold their value well too
A few pros and cons about my TL. Keep in mind I got an 04 so the 06 might be slightly upgraded:
Pros:
Decent power
Nav is great
Great interior/comfortable seats
Pleanty of room
Good stereo (supports DVD-A which is amazing if you can actually find one)
My wife has a Lex and her service is always more expensive than my Ac

Cons:
MPG not the best
FWD
No AUX connection

yeah my biggest gripe with base japanese cars is the FWD, I hate it with a passion. woulda been perfect if they made the 03'-08' TL with optional SH-AWD. the only other Acura car that has AWD in the price range is the 2005 RL, but I'm not really feeling the look of it.
the 09' + AWD TL is the goat tho, shyt's sexxii and has a ass-ton of power

I would go with the Acura as well. Both are nice cars, but the Lexus cost to own is going to be higher than the Acura. Other than that, both cars are going to be even as far as reliability, quality, performance, well in performance the Lexus may have an edge because it's RWD. But to me overall they are pretty balanced except in the cost to own & maintain.

I have an '06 TL (regular not the Type-S), and I love it. As for the gas mileage I actually think, for its class (luxury sedan), its one of the best. I used to get 22 mpg on average. Ever since I put a K&N air filter in, I been getting a combined 24 mpg according to the car's computer. But I be driving it hella conservatively. Rarely do I rev it hard (past 3,500 rpm).

The only weaknesses that I can think of:

-FWD
-the stock subwoofer sucks ass
-There's something weird about the gas pedal where if your foot isn't placed on it the right way, when you apply it, the engine doesn't rev as smooth. You just gotta get used to placing your foot on it the right way, which I have so its not really a problem for me anymore.

The main factor in me copping it when I did was the fact that acura's have the best resale value in the industry, but really, i don't even want to get rid of it. Its currently at 75000 miles.
