They're a successful company. Not all ventures will pan out but you would at least expect them to dip their toes in growing markets.

Blockbuster took your approach and now look at them.

Not sayin they are not successful, but when it comes to technology you cannot half ass. You have to go all in. Although they are successful, their failures still matter to them which is why they pulled from the phone business. They were losing money.

Better to be a master of a few than to be average at many. Apple is the biggest tech company on the planet, yet they don't even try to make cars or TVs. They surely could.



And no, Blockbuster is completely different. They just refused to adapt with the times. The equivalent would be LG not adapting to digital TVs and still focusing on analog TVs

i'm gonna miss em, lg's phones were really good. i'm still rocking one, they were the last maker to do removable batteries/high quality amps/headphone jacks. goofy shyt they invented like two screens/3d screens/"gaming" phones with battery hungry chips turned out to be good innovations which everyone else copied. all their phones were fast and hard to kill but the android rom that came on it was probably trash so you'd have to fix that. i really hate samsung being my only next choice and having to deal with dumb shyt like the bixby button, shytty samsung versions of all the google core apps, the stupid rearranged bottom bar, over aggressive power management killing off apps and so on.

It’s pretty much a duopoly in the United States anyway.

Probably 60% of the people I know own an iPhone. Maybe 35% own a Samsung phone and the others 5% a Google Pixel or some cheap budget Android phone.

I think they made a solid phone for the price point. But as tech gets cheaper its probably harder to stay competitive.
