31-51 season. Best non KG season ever, but 9th season in a row with no playoffs. Injuries did this team in. Lots needs to get done, but improved health alone will make all the difference.

First things first, let's hope Rick Adelman's wife gets good news regarding her health. That will determine whether he even comes back at all. We'll know in 2 weeks so in case he goes, the house cleaning can get done and maybe with this team's luck they'll get a GM and coach by September.

I think Kahn comes back if Rick comes back. If Rick leaves, so does Kahn. It boils down to just that.

Taylor will likely live, so I can't get everything I want.

Not sure on what happens with the 2nd rounder Portland owes us due to the Martell Webster situation, but I'm not holding my breath on that.

Onto the players.

First things first, everyone needs to get healthy and once they're healthy, shoot shoot and keep shooting.

I don't foresee a major overhaul of players like in years past. Probably no blockbusters.

Step 1a: re-sign Chase Budinger. This above all should be the main focus. Team sorely missed what he can provide. Pek is an RFA. Air Bud is a UFA. Gotta hope he likes this team enough to stay on $4 mil a year or so.

Step 1b: keep Pek long term. He's not a max player. In time, we may have to trade him for a better fit alongside whoever. But by any means necessary he must stay. Be aggressive. Don't let a team jack up the price. Keep him, hopefully around $11-$12 mil a year, but if it costs more, so be it.

Step 2: Trade Derrick Williams while his stock is somewhat resuscitated. Averaged about 17 and 8 since the All-Star Break, got going as a PF. Rick talked as if he'd be back, but if he wants more than 15mpg, he has to move to SF. I think that's a bad idea. He's not a SF. He never was. I don't know what we're doing to him, but it's screwing him up long term. Put him in a better place to succeed. Not sure what we'd get back, but it would better him to be on a squad that will accurately use him at his natural position.

Step 3: trade ONE of Ridnour /Barea. I'd deal Ridnour, but either /or is fine with me. Shved can take over as a backup at either PG or SG. Preferably use it as a chip to move up in the draft.

Lastly, check on Malcolm Lee's health and determine whether he'll be of any use to us. He was solid as a defender before he got hurt. If this injury affects his career, might as well attach him to any deal.

For the summer,

keep Pek and Bud

Decline Roy's option unless you can package his nonguaranteed deal in a trade.

Pick up Dante Cunningham's option.

Decline Stiemsma's option

Pray AK doesn't opt out, but if he does, bring him back for 3 years $24 mil.

Team will pick 9th. Ideally we'd get Victor Oladipo, but realistically Adelman will either want the pick traded for a proven vet SG or a SG with size, so according to what he'd prefer, a guy like Kentavious Caldwell-Pope would be an option at 9. 6'5'' really good guard on a bad Georgia team, provides scoring. Of course, this team will only pick who they work out /interview. With the Memphis pick, replace Greg Stiemsma with a big there. Could be Mike Muscala, Jeff Withey, Gorgui Dieng, Lucas Nogueira. We need cheap solid production from some spots on this team.

Nemanja Bjelica is on his way. He'll probably ride pine but he has potential as a SF/PF with handles.

If Gelabale and Chris Johnson are back, we didn't do enough to address certain problems, but they're welcome back.

I'd move Ridnour and the Memphis pick for Atlanta's higher selection in round 1 to get a better shot at Gorgui Dieng.

At 9, if we keep it, I'm good with CJ McCollum or KCP. We need a SG bad.

Derrick I have no clue what they'll do there but he needs to get packaged for a guard upgrade or a 2014 possible lotto pick. In a perfect world, we trade him for Giannis Adetokounbo and stash him away for 2 years while he develops

Sign Cole Aldrich as an end of the bench big if Rick doesn't prefer Chris Johnson

C Pekovic /Dieng /Aldrich
PF Love /Cunningham /Bjelica
SF Kirilenko /Budinger /Gelabale
SG KCP /Shved /Lee
PG Rubio /Barea /Peyton Siva in the late 2nd, fukk it. One day he replaces Barea.

Bolded being main rotation

Adetokounbo stashed away and brought in once AK's deal is ending.

This is pretty conservative. I just hope we don't do something desperate like trade the farm for Eric Gordon's dumb ass

Minnesota Timberwolves ownership news is coming. Soon.

In a brief phone conversation on Tuesday evening, Wolves owner Glen Taylor said he'll have a major announcement on the ownership front sometime in the next week.

When poked and prodded, the only other information he would volunteer was that it's a scenario that would never be guessed.

Taylor has had talks with Chris Hansen's Seattle group, but they want to move the Wolves to Seattle, and Taylor said that's not happening.

As for the future of coach Rick Adelman, Taylor said he doesn't yet what Adelman will do, but it "looks very favorable" for some sort of return. Taylor added that Adelman has kept him well-informed.

President of basketball operations David Kahn is scouting in Europe, according to Taylor. Asked if it was OK to make a leap on Kahn's future based on him continuing to work, Taylor said no.

When pressed if the NBA.com report about Flip Saunders taking over Kahn's duties was accurate, all Taylor would say is that no decision has been made yet. But in the same breath, Taylor said a decision would come by the end of the month.

That would be today.

Asked whether former Bulls and Lakers coach Phil Jackson was a part of any equation, Taylor said no comment. :wtf:

:dwillhuh: @ the vagueness of the Phil reference

Has the lottery already happened or is it changed somehow this year?

How do you know for sure we are picking 9th?

Every T'Wolves fan knows damn well we aren't moving up. That's how we know we're 9th. It should be a pretty quiet off season for us and I agree nothing too splashy. Get Rubio a shooting coach, Get Love a new trainer, Re-sign Pek and Bud and we should be good next year.

Right now 9th is merely what our lotto odds are. Unless a team with lesser odds than us moves up into the top 3 (highly unlikely, but it has happened before), 9th is where we'd likely be picking. The lowest we can pick is 12th.

But theoretically isn't there a chance that our ball gets pulled for the #1 pick?

Do they not do it that way anymore?

:snoop: We need a SG asap either via trade (I prefer this) or the draft. Hell I would do both.

Im all for signing Pek ans AK to extensions... D-Will and Luke need to go for a SG maybe? Throw in the Memphis pick too if we have to fukk it :manny:
