just want to apologize for making this thread. I was probably high at the time.
If that's true then why are people still sad when they have children, and some trying their best to not have them? We are told the reason for having children is the continuation of our genes, but I disagree, I think we have children so that we won't be alone as we get older, and have them help support us. Some just have children just to live vicariously through them. It's mostly for selfish reasons. I think the average person says its about legacy because they heard it a million times, but the average person has no legacy to carry on! That theory most likely was accepted from Rich people who did want their legacy to live on because they didn't want others to acquire their wealth or notoriety when they died, and since most follow the rich and/or famous, that theory became the law of the west. We live here so we accept the theory, but I don't think that theory is true, in totality.
But that is my point!
If it's all about brain chemistry, why are we not governed by it just like the rest of the animal world? Yeah, it effects us, but we can ignore the signals that are happening within the brain from those chemicals, if we choose to. In fact we can control those same chemicals when we want through different techniques whether they be internally such as meditation or through external means such as sex, drugs, or food or even music. That seems like a huge error in evolution, and I doubt nature would let us evolve to the point where we are going against it. It would have stopped us many, many, years ago. This hasn't happened. What has happened was, we developed to survive nature with things such as skin pigmentation, and complex thought patterns needed to survive the constant weather cycles the earth goes through. We know how to store food, catch different food, build shelter, and many other things.
To me if life was so cut,and dry, we wouldn't even be asking these questions since, who knows how long. The fact that we are conversing through wires, and can travel to other planets, yet we can't even answer why we seek happiness, shows how low we are on the internal/emotional intelligence scale of being.
