LIG, great ORIGINAL concepts, Top Notch world class lyricism, elegant mature production, and an album cover with a statement :ahh::ahh:

Summer on smash the only knock on the album and had he not put it on there it could easily have been a 5 mic album

really? :aicmon:

it's a tough choice but your track choice is :duck:

why not pray, the title track, or roc boys for example.

Life Is Good is nothing short of an amazing album. not saying classic cuz that gets tossed around a lot but the first 3 tracks effing MURDER the cuts you mentioned, breh.

and nas beats were an acquired taste on LIG, i will admit. but they fit very well and if you wanna be a shyne ass "beats were garbage" nikka then make like redman and beedat.

i still can't decide tho, tbh.

cherry wine puts it a mL ahead for me, tho. hate me now.

:whoa: don't mistake me for a hater breh...

Stillmatic had great beats. Untitled had great beats. Aside from a couple LIG's beats should've been much better. I expected more from Nas. Doesn't mean he isn't still one of my favorite rappers.

Shyne :scusthov:

Ignorant shyt, say hello & no hook are my 3 favorite tracks off AG.. they just have that all around quality, like the songs on BP or Stillmatic did but maybe that's just me. The way the lyrics on Say Hello hit me it was just like damn

"We aint thugs for the sake of just bein thugs" :whew:

"We movin dimes cause we aint doin fine" :whew:

I had to play that shyt back like 4 times upon first hearing it :damn:

Idk I liked LIG but I don't think it's a CLASSIC & I didn't have that connection with it like I did with AG :yeshrug:

Someone bless with a link to AG

co-sign, I got that shyt on my phone but my port broke so I cant connect it to my laptop smh

But as far as the thread, AG is one my favorite albums ever (somewhere in the low top 10) so the choice is obvious to me but LIG is still dope 4/5

right on. AG did have more emotional appeal while LIG was a bit more conceptual. their flows put them in different lanes, as always. nas kinda of teaches, whiles jay always brags.

:patrice: it's easier/more fun to be impressed than to just sit, be amazed and learn.

i got something against say hello personally tho. it sounded to much like 'can't tell me nothin'. the tempo, the drumbeat and the overall sound.

and that frank lucas/luda line on 'no hook' had me like :why:. i can still hear the saltiness in hov's voice that he wasn't in the movie. let's not forget that album, while one of his best, was totally reactionary. that's a nice way of me saying it was a successful bytch fit.

ignorant shyt was fly as hell tho, i must admit.:blessed:

i guess i like more of the deep introspective jay-z, which is why i normally vote nas. :yeshrug:

there's nothing wrong with bragging... alot of rappers do it and actually get caught in their lies unlike Hov.. look at Ace Hood for example

you lying if you tell me you ain't like Bugatti :mjpls:

No Hook was just so dark, gutter & real.. from the beat to the flow to the bars

"I'm so fa sho, it's no facade
“Stay outta trouble,” momma said, as momma sighed
Her fear: her youngest son be a victim of homicide
But I gotta get you outta here momma, or I'mma die ...inside
And either way, you'll lose me momma so let loose of me
I got the rein our direction will soon change
To live and die in N.Y. in the hustle game
Hustle caine, hustle clothes, I hustle music
But hustle hard in any hustle that you pick
Skinny nikka, toothpick, but, but I do lift
Weight like I'm using roids, Rolls, Royce keep my movements
Smooth while maneuvering, through all the manure in
The sewer that I grew up in"

:noah:

what's wrong with him saying he's more Frank Lucas than Ludacris? Luda's his dude, he wasn't tryna diss :mjpls:

As hard as I try I can't take LIG as serious as the next man, for pete's sake Nas went from an orange velour suit on a project rooftop to sitting next to Kelis' wedding dress :bryan:

& Jay been :rip:'d that "kicking knowledge" shyt

anybody who knows anything knows the game is to be sold not told :smugdraper:

I think LIG is still better and I LOVE LOVE LOVE American Gangster. There is just something so much more personal about LIG as opposed to a "rise and fall" of a drug dealer/gangster concept that AG went with. Lyrically I'm just not sure if any rapper can compare to what Nas was spitting on LIG

Look, they're both modern day Classics, AG is basically an updated version of Reasonable Doubt and LIG is this decade's Stillmatic, but I'll have to go with LIG, it just has this "FEEL" and summertime vibe to it, plus Nas poured his heart out on this one, but AG is right there as well!

so east to sleep on him in my eyes.

on topic tho, what you think about hello brooklyn 2.0? i ain't even a weezy stan but that track is :whew:. great remake imo.
