Right. With streaming being the most common way people listen to music now, especially for their first listen, the music industry needed some way to restore some sort of balance. I don't see a problem here, people listen to what they choose to listen to. Only difference now is, they've got a plaque to prove it.

Thinking further about this, should this be the new rules? I kind of KIND OF like the idea of streams get accolades but not necessarily equating it with sales?
"Platinum streams" should be a completely different accolade rather than equal to a plat album. It cheapens it, and it's not the same.
