Lil Wayne finally released Tha Carter VI last Friday (June 6), his first solo album in five years.

While the project has not received the best of reviews from fans or critics, it is currently on course to sell 110,000 equivalent units in its first week on sale.

35,000 of that number is made up of actual sales.

If projections hold, Tha Carter VI will debut at number two on the Billboard 200 with country star Morgan Wallen holding on to the top spot.

In comparison, Wayne’s last solo album, Funeral, debuted at number one and sold 139,000 equivalent units in its first week of release.

It is also a significant drop off from Tha Carter V‘s opening week sales of 480,000 in 2018.

Tha Carter VI was perhaps most notable for its eclectic features which includes U2 lead singer, Bono.

The two link up on the anthemic “The Days” which was previously debuted during a promo for the NBA Finals.

On the track, Wayne references his status as an elder statesman in Hip Hop, rapping: “I ain’t getting younger, but I’m getting better / No time to waste that’s another man’s treasure / They say every dog has hit day.”

While Bono, who has previously worked with Kendrick Lamar and Kanye West, sings: “The time of our lives / The time of our youth / We bow down to beauty and truth / These are the days.”

The 19 track project features an array of guest artists including 2 Chainz, Kodak Black, Machine Gun Kelly and Big Sean.

Over 100K after 25 years in the game is crazy.

Nas could never.
Nas doesn't spam the streaming services with 20 track projects like YMCMB/ovo artists do, which has been confirmed as a major factor for improved numbers.
Nas rarely drops more than 15 tracks, he has plenty of projects with approximately 10 songs.
Lil Wayne has always been way more commercially successful, this has received massive promotion, and its a 19 track project... Nas would indeed not be proud of these numbers.
