I wouldn't say pretty well but he's far more in tune with current music than people think. His whole second album is essentially him setting other artists up to steal the show.

Him ghostwriting for them isn't too surprising, imo. He could probably write radio bangers with no substance for a lot of people if he wanted. I'm guessing thats why QC has stressed his importance. That whole label helps each other.
