I touched down in 86' so I'm a certified 80's baby. I grew up in the 90's. Since then Hip Hop has become global....and digitized....which means it's everybody's now. I used to feel some type of way, but then something happened. I get a type of satisfaction when I hear a line that I know you had to be from a certain era to comprehend.
Example...
"I'm the lightskinned Keith Sweat.....I'm gon' make it last forever it's not your time cuz I ain't done yet"
I use this example primarily because of the artist who spits it has the quintessential core fan base and demographic that describes my subject line. Also, most of you hate Drake. This thread isn't about missing the old days or bringing hip hop back. It's about finding the really small gems today. Drake spits that line on "All Me" off the NWTS album. When I first heard it, it took me back to my youth in my parents house listening to WBLS. I knew immidiatley that sooooo many of his fans that were listening had no clue as to what that meant. Some may know Keith Sweat....but how many actually know the meaning behind him making it last forever?

@ Keith sweats "make it last forever" being some sort of secret song no one knows.. That shyt was huge when released and has been sampled in hip hop countless times from the beat to the hook...
