Is it time to take off the scully, the Timbs, and the fitted caps?
Time to let go of the weed, can't let the jeans sag?
Ozzy Osbourne still got his fingernails black
Rock and rollers still rebels, any age that they at
But with rap, it's a time limit? Never

Do you think it is acceptable to wear sags and Jordans and all that young boy sh1t when peaking 50/60 plus years?

He stated rock n rollers like Ozzy Osbourne still were doing their own thing but I think if you are not a musician living and creating the life then you should probably dress for your age. Even when I see these rock n roll heads just walking the street in all black leather jackets and wild sh1t when they are of senior age it looks odd. Similarly every now and again I see one of these senior citizens in young boy sh1t.

Nas as a rapper is right, rappers can still represent themselves all the way like that due to being successful already and crafting the life but your average 9-5er really should look out for the more mature angle.

Honestly if you're being a productive citizen and person for your family I don't think it matters how you dress.

Now if you can't get steady employment, you're in and out of jail, not taking care of your family etc. Then yes you need to change.

This makes a lot sense.

In fact wolves attract wolves, birds of a feather flock together and all that. So honestly dressing like a rapper or young boy sh1t when living a low key life trying to provide and protect can be dangerous. Grilling you and all other forms of aggressive behavior. I feel present yourself the way you would like to be treated.

For me I've always dressed Hip-Hop influenced. I wouldn't say necessarily like a rapper though. I'm not wearing really expensive stuff and I haven't worn jewelry since I was a teen. Haven't really had any issues though. Of course I'm not running around sagging or any silly shyt.

:russ: I hear this.

I was hiphop influenced too. Especially around the Belly DMX/Nas era. Wearing them white tees, jeans, timbs, avirex's.

Hiphop fashion is all about keeping up with the latest trends and names too. At my age it will be exhausting and irresponsible lets face it it's popping tags. Designer label only life lol. Even the women of my age to see me in some young boy hiphop sh1t would look at me as immature and lacking responsibility. I know it is only clothes but how a man dress is how he represents himself.

It is alright for rappers they won already. The youth naturally are going to do that they still have adventure and therefore mistakes to be made on their side. They will soon realize clothes dont get you the girls you want. Also clothes can attract unwanted static or attention. I hear you a 100% though I agree.

Do what makes you feel happy

It's definitely about being happy.

But often you can even be happier and more fruitful in life if you also keep aware of what is going to help you and what will hinder you.

It's about happy though.

Hey I say do what makes you happy. I'm more worried about just not being a bum. For me I've always had full time employment and been adulting since my late teens lol.

Nas refuses to allow society, which historically has berated hip-hop as unworthy of being sanctioned as art, to dictate the terms of what is appropriate behavior for the genre’s representatives. Rather, he leaves that to the culture itself, for the culture has always self-corrected, self-administered, and self-made any and all salves for its continued success and development.

Maturity is different than how someone chooses to dress up or live their life though. Its a way of thinking and how someone acts in real life situations vs looking a part. Ive seen plenty of 40, 50, 60, and up that are immature as sh1t and they give it away by how they chose to act and the logic behind it. Not every older person is an elder. Some of these older guys acting WORSE than the younger folks so its most definitely a way of thinking after some point. You cant learn sh1t from them and they'll even try to encourage you to devolve like them trying to act like theyre cool. :yeshrug: theres a difference between maturity where someone is just being themselves and makes sense about it vs someone who doesnt want to grow up and evolve

For sure, I hear this.

It's not about being uncomfortable or unnatural but the world is evolving in a more sinister manner. Soon the feds can penalize you off what you are wearing alone lol. They already target a lot of people like that. I am worried about not being a bum just like everyone else lol, but there is a certain application you can use to advance your circumstances.

I hear Nas but he is on the other side of success. If like me and you are trying to keep pushing forward and level up in life I honestly believe all the young boy hiphop clothing will deter many opportunities. Wearing hiphop clothing is like a celebration you made it somehow with all the dope pieces and designer tags but to me that would be a straight up lie. I haven't made it or have reason to celebrate in all this attire through a working week. I keep it low key and move incognito.

We are from two different cultures though, so I can understand you being more liberated environment to rock those type of clothing and express yourself. It is about happiness though.

I appreciate this.

Nas is speaking from the representatives angle. I was more posing the question as a fan and consumer. Could we dress like a dope rappers at certain ages? I think it is all about being happy first. Which I totally understand.

Very real angle to look at this.

I highlighted a very on point quote. I hear all of this.

This discussion in hip-hop fashion used to be about 40+ even 30+, now having it about 50+60 really shows where it ended.

IMO I don't care about the codes, do what makes you feel good. Don't fell obligated to a certain style not when your young and not later on.
