My younger brothers 04 330ci got totaled back at the need of march as his registration has due in mid April, the girls mother that hit him kept fighting it and he eventually won about and got sent a check at the end of May,but whole time car was store at body shop since day of accident, they wanna get paid, really they just wanna keep the car,my brother just happy he was able to get out of his high interest car note, pay what was left and have a couple racks left over.what he didn't know was until he got sent another registration renewal that if he didn't respond state could come after his ass by way if bank account, but since his car was totaled he doesn't know how to go about the dmv.The body shop is buggin for the title, which just came in the mail today, what's the best way to go about being free of any charges from DMV and body shop?

Your insurance should be working with the body shop...

The insurance company I guess left It up to us,cuz they would of gave us more for car if we had it in our possession, but because it was in shop, shop wanted like 4k for insurance comp to get it out, they said fukk that, and just gave us a smaller check since comp wasn't gonna keep car

Contact the DMV or mail them proof of the car being considered total and that you plan on transferring the title to the body shop. You can send it certified or take your chances and go down there.

What state is your brother in?
His registration was due in April 2015? Then, that's on him that he didn't renew registration. He should go to the DMV as soon as possible and turn in one of the plates and unregister the car.
He should talk with his insurance company regarding what he should give to the body shop, title, money for storage, etc. The body shop may not give a honest reply since they can profit on getting the salvaged car. The insurance company has already written it off and won't benefit from telling your brother on what or what not to do.

We in Cali,Yeah it was due but car was already totaled we were just waiting for insurance to settle,we ended up just releasing liability online at dmv site, then handing over title to shop is gift :yeshrug:
