Based off Sonic 3, I think they could pull it off effects wise but they'd have to not follow the same mistakes as the other two films and the last Mortal kombat

Make ryu the lead and don't add in more characters than necessary for the story. Actually include the damn tournament and don't tease a sequel before making a quality film first
