Alaska pays people to move there, if the cost of living is high where fucc do you live

I realize that. They call them dividend checks. I live in the DC area, the 3rd or 4th highest cost of living in the entire country.

I'm just saying after I retire I want to move where the cost of living is low...so my money will go longer. Even with a dividend check, my pay would be high enough for me. I"m in government finance and accounting...there aren't many positions that would fill my needs up there. I've checked.

My uncle was stationed up there. Liked it so much, he stayed after retiring from the army. He’s a mail carrier now and he and his wife seem to be living just fine. Multiple cars and no problem traveling (more than any other members of my family, they make all the weddings, family reunions, funerals, graduations and milestone birthdays in addition to their own vacations). I still remember him raving about how much he loved his governor cuz they had just gotten the biggest check yet from the oil fund....then a couple months later Palin entered the national spotlight. Amazing how markedly his opinion on her changed lol

Yep...I still got friends up there. Their folks retired or separated from the military and decided to stay.

Hey, breh. A deer straight attacked my car one night.

There's this certain spot in one of the highways between towns here where the deer congregate at night cause of the water. I would always slow down to about 45 when I got to it. It's not uncommon to see 5 to 15 deer standing on side of the road. Or in the road.

One night there was this huge buck standing right in the middle of the road. So I slowed to a stop. Didn't wanna try to drive past and freak it out.

After like 5 seconds, I blinked the lights and barely hit the horn. That motherfukker rushed me Was stamping all over the front of the car.

I freaked out and threw the car in reverse, it lowered it's head and still charged at me. I drove past it as fast as I could. Got to work, had deer hoof dents all over my hood. Insurance wouldn't even pay for it. They don't have a clause for when animals attack your shyt, only if you hit the animals.

Not fake. I grew up in Alaska for some years...and I loved it!

You will see moose near the bus stop. If you see a baby moose, go back in the house because the mother might not be far behind and they will attack.

You'll see bears in your backyard too. I saw a couple of black bears around the base when I was there.
