SE Asia like Thailand.

Colombia is cheap too, but buck :demonic:. Street rules apply.
Panama and Costa Rica are dope. Costa Rica can be a bit expensive. You might want to wait until the dry season to go to either of those countries.

Dominican Republic used to be the spot, but lately .

Pick up some foreign language if you can.

Secure your money and belongings. Secure your passport. Have copies of your passport and other IDs. Have financial backup. Pack light. Take disposable property with you if you lose it.

Dress down. Blend in with the locals, but they will probably still be able to tell that you are a gringo.

Be your own bank. Take cash in dominations of 100s, 50s, 20s, 10s, and 5s. Find the best price you can get for currency exchange. Buy bottled water.

Watch out for hustlers. Again street rules apply.
