:heh: good old city job.

I used to think like that as well.
Bruh, picking up trash, working at the DMV, working at city hall making 50k or so was good enough for a lot of folks from the hood. I'm not knocking it, but the amount of hoops you gotta jump through to get those job to just be "making it" is absurd.

That one pro to living in the hood is if you have the mental fortitude to keep progressing forward you can survive anywhere imo.

Yeah, it's a few Orlando brehs on here @Tombstone is from Ivey Lane. @Ricky Fontaine Is from Orlando. @UpThruDere too.

It was a breh from east orlando but I forgot his username.
Wild shyt, I just drove through Mercy yesterday from Barnett Park and saw some homeless breh sitting in the middle of John Young butt ass naked, all burned up from the hot asphalt. :hubie:

Mercy Drive about to get completely gentrified soon. About to get that Parramore treatment.

I feel you. Your environment has a lot to do with inner drive. I remember when I was a tech for Comcast, man I would be in my truck all day going to different folks houses, different areas of the city. I didn't realize how depressing my old area was until we left the state and I went back for my brothers funeral.

I was thinking to myself, "was it ALWAYS like this?

Your story reminds me of that Robert Peace breh. Ivy league scholar yet still got caught up in the bullshyt in Newark NJ. Ended up getting murdered. Breh was too comfortable being in the hood, being the big dog in a sea of dysfunction. Extremely sad story.

I wasn't running the streets persay...but a lot of people I still associated were. I just was a little too close to people doing bullshyt and I was ok entertaining it. I had some bad tendencies too, like bringing my gun with me to work, etc.
