I agree. She would need to really lean into being a villain in a way. That sympathy play that she's pulling is not going to work. She's been proven to be a hypocrite so she got an uphill battle.

On a broader subject I think it's about time we discuss the music industry's Class of 2019 and how many of them have fallen off hard. She's one of them.

probably says something about how you can manufacture a moment but not a career

How can she rebrand when her entire existence and image is based on an era that has passed? Specially that 2016-2020 resistance, BLM, p*ssy hats, body positivity shyt that has largely died out. She's no longer being praised for merely existing as a fat black woman who (allegedly) has important things to say. White women are no longer bowing down to her, black publications are no longer carrying water for her. She's been exposed and the political climate is different. People are still anti-Trump but after the BLM fraud, gender war fatigue, and her harassment case she's no longer the golden child. Folks way too jaded for that bullshyt to work again.

She actually had hit songs during that period that endeared people to her. Once the whole novelty faded and she didn't have the hits anymore. Of course, people weren't going to care anymore. The biggest thing attached to her name recently is this scandal. The songs she had that were hits were empowerment anthems to a lot of people. So people are writing think pieces on her for different reasons. Those people who found her music empowering turned on her.

It also didn't help that she came of condescending and judgemental where other people were concerned. So when her scandal hit the fan, her haters became louder, her fans turned on her, and she gained a whole other set of haters from people who may have been indifferent before but learned of her from the scandal (and this really will be the most vocal and loudest of all).

And how hard it is to sustain a long term career successfully. I think we take for granted how much work, opportunity and ingenuity it takes.
