WWAP was far from garbage. Besides those 3 wack love joints everything else
on there was fire. From Droppin Em, Fast Peg, Nitro, Why Do You Think They Call It Dope to It Gets No Rougher, Big Ole Butt, 1 900 LL Cool J, Jealous, Jingling Baby, Def Jam In The Motherland and Jack the Ripper/Crime Stories(cassette version)

LL wasn't on the Black/African medallion tip and was jockin himself a little too much in people's eyes on/in Goin Back To Cali/I'm That Type of Guy Song/videos.

LL did make his hip hop version of Thriller with Mama Said.

A lot of cats thought LL was just coming off too cocky and was just too much all about himself. Plus a lot of cats won't feeling Walking With A Panther because Hip Hop had gone really conscious and LL wasn't really on that Public Enemy, Boogie Down Productions N.W.A. conscious movement. But that wasn't really LL's angle, so it was what it was. But side from like 5 songs ("I'm That Type Of Guy", "One Shot At Love", "You're My Heart", and "Two Different Worlds"), that joint was nice. It's not a classic album but it's still a good album in my opinion.

Even the cover was dope to me. IMO the cover (front and back) was the blueprint for everything that would become a accessory in Hip Hop (the chains, the women, the champagne etc)

To add on and to make a clarification, the title and the jacket that LL has on, are a salute to the Black Panther Movement and the angle Hip Hop was on. You gotta remember, Russell and Def Jam wanted to keep LL as pristine as possible and didn't want him to have any affiliations to anyone that appeared radical. LL being clever has the BLACK PANTHER on the album cover and he is wearing RED, BLACK AND GREEN. The champagne, jewelry and money represent what the black man has been able to achieve in the modern time. And it is all LEGAL money. People have to realize that LL thinks in a different way than most rappers, so his actions may not make sense to you. But if you understand him, you will realize how slick and creative he was and is.

This is true and I agree but a lot of that went over most peoples' heads because LL wasn't being as vocal and straight to the point as Public Enemy, N.W.A., KRS were (except for the Motherland joint and a few rhymes here and there on Walking With A Panther) but again, that was never really his angle.

But I agree with you, LL was very clever and creative in how he got his message across it's just that it didn't seem as clear because the majority of his rhymes didn't speak on a lot of the topics that Public Enemy and KRS were speaking on. But once again, he was never THAT conscious although when it was time he still in some way, shape or form stepped up the plate and added his 2 cents on what was going on in the world.

Great post! :salute:

I thought the album was straight.
