Being signed to Def Jam (or any major label) doesn't guarantee you anything these days. The way a lot of these deals today are structured are based on what the artist can do as far as building their name before the label actually starts putting money into them fully. But one thing always is a constant, if he doesn't deliver a "Hit" or a "Radio Single" it's not gonna fly with the label. They're about making money on an investment, not bringing "Real Hip Hop Back"
