Depends on the type of lobster and the individual animal themselves. 15 pounds isn’t “normal” but it’s not way out there. We just don’t eat them like that cause there’s no market for them that big, it’s too expensive. You also run the risk of the meat not being as good. It’s the same thing with shrimp, you can get some huge shrimp out there, but the larger they are, the tougher the meat. What’s the limit? 15 pounds already looks beyond the limit
Lobster are bottom feeding parasites of the ocean. They're also oddly enough beginning to cannibalize one another recently. I've found carcasses at the bottom of lobster crates mangled and torn apart from others that got to themIs seafood even that safe to eat anymore?

The shrimp you eat is farm raised from Thailand. Native shrimp is only in season for about 2 months tops in the Winter now in the east coast.
Stop eating cod. It is absolutely riddled with parasitic worms. People substitute cod for haddock or claim that they're pretty much the same...they're not.
These words of wisdom are being brought to you from someone who used to work in a fisherman's co-op (on the retail side).
Scallops though![]()
