I been lookin at mid 90's honda accords, corrolas, camry's...but it seems like most of these dudes on craiglist over price these b*tches by at least 500. and then I started lookin at galants, and they got much newer ones with far less miles selling for under 2500. came across one with 146k miles sellin for 2500 exactly...still overpriced according to kbb but I figure I could negotiate down. and it's also 4 cyclinder which is a big factor for me. is there a specific reason these are selling for so cheap?...short lifespan?...expensive to maintain?...seems like these are way too nice for the price they're goin for.

you gotta factor in how much it would be to replace parts...

i would go with a mid honda accord just cause tons of em and you could get cheap used motors or trans... they are just cheaper to maintain..

mitsubishi galant... there arent that many out there and prob harder to maintain

i knew a couple of ppl taht owned eclipses and all of them swore off mitsubishi for a variety of upkeep reasons..

if its just to commute id go with an accord...

My mother-in-law has a Mitsubishi Galant and it's a 2004 model and it rides suprisingly well. She has only put 67K miles on it though because she lives in a very, very small town and she can walk to work. But the car is very clean and rides better than I thought it would.

I owned a 98 galant. It was reliable and easy on gas and performs just as well as the other japanese models.
The only minor drawback was parts cost, specifically the parts that have electronics in them like alternators, distributors etc cost a little more coz Mitsubishi usually build their own so you will spend say $250 on an alternator instead of $150 ..but then again you wont do that too often so if you get one at a good price go for it.
