The funny thing is neither LYOR COHEN or RICK RUBIN whom already had left DEF JAM was even tripping
they knew it was best to let PE have thier artistic freedom cause PE was meant to upset the status quo
That's why RICK RUBIN brought them to DEF JAM ..russell simmons NEVER cared for them
and it showed when Russell and POLYGRAM/DEF JAM blocked PE to prevent them from releasing thier album BRING THE NOISE 2000 on the net

I mean if you're kicking pro black talk and preaching about racism, You have to tackle the true origins of who makes the wheel spin(The Jews). It was both, and in spite Griff arguably to this day may still have some bit of animosity over it, Griff understood and Chuck and Griff are still brothers. But at that time, coming off one of the greatest albums ever made in hip hop and on the verge of blowing up mainstream, Chuck D HAD to make the sacrifice because it was either Griff had to go or the entire group will completely fold. The fact that the group got larger acclaim afterwards points to this being a wise decision.
