I've been at the gym before but I haven't been consistent because I was living out in the middle of nowhere
:francis:

Now i live closer to the boxing gym and I wanna go all in to get in shape...and maybe do some ameteur boxing...I'm probably too old to really make much out of it at 29 and pretty much being a beginner and I work a lot.

:manny:...

But shiiieeeedddd you never know till you try :lolbron:

They have gear, but I ain't really trying to use their shyt.:scust:

Anyway I wanted to get some good quality gear
That looks fresh also.

gloves
Shoes
wraps
Trunks
(I'm using basketball shorts at the moment)
Tops

Etc.

O yea, man I can't find no Nike or Under Armour gear they don't make much of anything anymore?

The best spot is probably Ebay breh! Pretty good prices and you often can find them throwing in free wraps with the gloves. Trunks and tops are not really needed unless you actually plan on competing. Not that they cant be gotten for cheap its just not really necessary. Plus a lotta dudes is gonna look at you like the guy who goes hooping in a authentic jersey, shooting sleeve. compression shorts ect ect. not a good look in a sport that you get punched as opposed to cooked

@mr. smoke weed is right though title is a good spot as well

For gloves, are you going to be doing bagwork/sparring or both?

Title is usually a good start, they tend to have decent priced stuff with frequent specials

What are you looking to spend?

@PJTech @Yuzo both good w these and @SkiHatDaGawd

I'm willing to spend a moderate amount and I'm willing to spend more in the near future as rewards for losing weight.:manny:

Im about that premium life too:mjgrin:

Im going to do both, I heard about the different sized gloves like the 16oz. 14 oz. and 12 oz.

I bought a nike speed rope and some everlast handwraps too...I seen some hand wraps that look like a glove but have the wrap on the outside that goes on the the wrist are those any good?

Also should I buy compression gear so I don't snap my shyt up :lupe:

Any links or threads in here for beginning boxers?:jbhmm:

I know im asking a million questions but I'm lowkey excited about this shyt:wow:

Boxing Basics

Somewhere to start for basic boxing

For bag gloves you want to be sure you can make a proper fist so 12 oz would be best

For sparring it depends on your size but I usually go by 16 oz gloves.

You want to make sure the padding is comfortable for you and whoever you spar doesn't feel like they're getting hit by a floor mat with knuckles behind it

They obviously have a break in time so you could start with the Title Classics 16 oz. It'll take a bit to break in so you can do round on the bag with them and spar

An alternative for bag gloves is getting bag mitts which should let you make a proper fist when punching

Congrats on picking up the sport bro!
For starters like many people have said go ahead and cop some 16oz gloves.

As far as hand wraps you could get the regular or the pre-gloved. It's just personal preference. The purpose for the wraps is to keep your hands compressed when throwing punches, it helps reduce the movement of bones in your hands.

Gloves you got quite the selection honestly, I would say I'm a fan of fairtex (They are a Thai boxing brand) The Oz of the gloves makes a difference in hand speed, the higher the Oz the heavier the glove is which in turn makes your punches faster as you go down in Oz.

Also check this site out its a combat sport site.

The Rings offical: So you get busy?? Inviting MMA Heads!!! Thread

^^^^Check that thread out. I'd recommend starting with gloves from Title (Title classics are under 100 and nice), and shoes from aasics, if you're buying from Title.com call them after your purchase and complain and they'll throw in free handwraps. You gonna go to a gym or train at home?
