HOnestly, if you're as behind the times as I am? (cheap HP pavillion I stole from my job), a 500 dollar computer will make you feel godly.

lookit:

Micro Center - Computers, Electronics, Computer Parts, Networking, Gaming, Software, and more!

  • AMD A4-6300 Dual Core Processor 3.7GHz
  • Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)
  • 4GB DDR3-1333 RAM
  • 1TB 7,200RPM Hard Drive
  • AMD Radeon HD 8370D
  • 24x DVD-RW Drive
  • 10/100/1000 Network
I used to masturbate to those kind of computer stats. Now the joints is $379.

The best computer you can possibly buy is a Lenovo (my opinion)

The stuff I got listed up there really is pretty standard nowadays.

The best processor type is Intel. AMD's are fine if you aren't doing anything heavy, but they get hot and the fan in the computer will drive you crazy.

4 gigs of RAM, you cool. Hell, 2 at the minimum.

1TB of space, you won't run out any time soon.

Really, the only drawback of that computer I posted is the fact that it has an AMD processor. And if you don't know, you aren't gonna notice.

just whatever you do, don't go to walmart and grab no eMachines. :whoa:

Just build a Celeron if that's all you really need. Built one for a client recently for about $250. But that's all new parts, you can easily reuse your case and hard drive.

I'm in the market for a new desktop (which I will build) and a 2nd laptop. I got mine for $520 back in 2010. It would've been SEVERAL hundred dollars more but I got it from the Dell warehouse (on the Dell site). Someone ordered it with a bunch of upgraded specs but didn't follow thru with the order, so I got it brand new on the low. I'll get my next one from there, too.
